En las canciones, como en la literatura toda y en el cine, nos hemos educado sentimentalmente y repetimos muchos de sus modelos sin atender a que se trata de puras ficciones. Como dice bien Christina Rosenvinge y aquí se recoge: los que escribimos canciones tenemos mucho cuento . El ensayo que ocupa la segunda parte de este libro reflexiona acerca de todo eso y examina cuanto del amor se puede concluir a partir de una parte del cancionero, aquella parte que pudiéramos considerar propia del autor y de su generación. Los relatos que lo preceden no dejan de ser el ejercicio práctico de la teoría. El uno y los otros explican el porqué de nuestras canciones y amores desafinados (levemente).
